Our winter rates will go into effect on Monday, November 29.

Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Holiday Sale

If you are looking for 10 round passes or gift certificates, your best deals will be on Black Friday, followed by Cyber Monday.   The Holiday Sale will then continue through December 23.  If you are ordering online, please give us 48 hours to process any orders.  Dollar amount gift cards will be emailed to you with a code, but 10 round passes need to be mailed or picked up so please keep that in mind.  We will be closed completely December 24-26.

Memberships

Rates are increasing for the 2022 season, and new memberships are not currently available.  We sold too many memberships in 2021, and we have a waiting list.  Since our last membership price increase, our weekend greens fees with cart have increased from $47 to $57.  With the price of labor and other inputs on a steep rise, the price will be $1,050 for a weekday pass or $1,350 for a seven day pass if you pay by January 7, 2022.  If you don’t pay by that date, you will risk losing your membership to someone on the waiting list.  Outside range balls will be an additional charge.  We will not be offering memberships in the Barn.  Realistically, we need to lose 15 weekday members before we go to the waiting list.  We are not priced to be a private or semi-private golf course, we are a daily fee facility and our membership rates are reflective of that.  We appreciate everyone’s support, and we want to give enough notice in case you want to explore membership options elsewhere.

Barn Golf League

The popular Barn golf league will begin the week of January 2.  Stay tuned for winter hours.
Format – Each week we will play a different 9 holes. Individual stroke play with 100% handicaps
Price – $20 per player for 2 hours of time
Prizes – $5 cash for low net score (new players will need to establish a handicap)  Number of places paid will depend on number of entries
$5 Birdie Pool – (new players can be in the birdie pool) if you are the only player in the league to birdie or eagle a hole, you will win a share of the pot  (if 3 players have a birdie that holds, the pot is split 3 ways)

Sunday, November 7, 8 AM Shotgun

If your name doesn’t appear on this list, we have your team incorrectly listed, or you’re on the list but need to cancel, please call us at 508-830-3535. or email us at golf@southersmarsh.com.   We have a waiting list of people who would love to play.

Women – Yellow, or Green if you are over the age of 65 with a handicap over 10
If you are playing a forward tee, your handicap will be adjusted accordingly

Sign-up Deadline: Registration is Closed – Sold Out
Entry Fees: Season Pass Holders – $10, Associate Members, Weekday Pass Holders – $35, League Members and Guests – $40, includes greens fees and lunch after golf (free cranberry sauce!)
Carts: $15 per rider
Prizes: $5 per player prizes, $5 skins pool

Fall Greens Fees are in effect starting October 12

Greens are not aerated and won’t be in the month of October.  It’s still a great time to play golf, why screw it up?

Our leagues are over, but we are still running the birdie pools for all of them and you can still take advantage of the league rates.  (Actually $5 cheaper, but they no longer include a $5 lunch credit or an evening meal.)

Cranberry harvest will continue for the next 3 weeks or so at the golf course.  There are a lot of moving parts so I can’t say what we’ll be doing on any given day, but if you come out you may be lucky enough to see us in action.   The golf course will always remain open during harvest, but there may be a tee closed so we don’t put our workers in danger from errant golf balls.

Membership rates will be increasing for the 2022 season.

Cranberry farmer and golf course owner William Bramhall Stearns III of Plymouth passed away on April 27, 2021 at the age of 71 following a several year battle with heart issues, diabetes, skin cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, bladder cancer, and golfers who would not bring their carts in when it got dark. If there would be one thing that “Big Will” would insist on, it would be that people remember him with smiles and laughter, not sadness.

His generous heart had an impact on so many. We will miss the smiles, laughter, and stories.

Many thanks to Glenn and Jenn Anderson of Viamark Advertising for producing this video.

Obituary

Jim McCabe’s story
Chris Garrett’s story

Thank you to everyone for the love and support!

One of the most frustrating things about the release of the updated Massachusetts COVID safety rules is the focus on the allowance of  “100 people inside or 150 people outside.”

While this may be technically true, there are certain regulations that need to be in place in order to accommodate that many people. For example:

  • Face coverings are still required, indoors or outside during gatherings
  • Six feet of separation between tables (this prevents us from reaching the 100 or 150 person maximum)
  • Buffets remain closed
  • Rooms and hallways need to be marked to indicate six feet of separation

There is only vague guidance on what will change on May 29, but I have seen no mention of a loosening of the mask requirement.   As we have said before, we do not anticipate hosting shotgun events until the mask mandate has been lifted.  We want every person who steps onto the property to have a wonderful experience, and we don’t want to be put in the position of having to settle disputes between those guests who are behaving as if it’s business as usual and those guests who prefer to be more cautious.  In a large group there will definitely be both.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience; we are just trying to go about this appropriately and not put our guests, employees and our business at risk.

Updated April 12

Here are the answers to some of our frequently asked questions.

When are golf leagues starting?

The Monday League (ages 55+), Tuesday League and Thursday League are underway.  This is a great chance to establish a quota if you are new to the league.  No commitments or registration fees required, just make a tee time and come when it is convenient.  In April the price will be $5 cheaper than in-season but will not include a lunch credit or evening meal.  The Tuesday and Thursday League will start for real in May.

The Women’s League will start on Wednesday May 5.

Tee times will be required for the 2021 season.  We are anticipating high demand again.

What are the Barn hours?

The week of April 12 the Barn will be closed on Monday and Wednesday.  Starting the week of April 19, the Barn will be open Monday-Thursday 3-8 PM, Friday-Saturday Noon-8 PM, and Sunday Noon-7 PM.

Am I able to walk into the Barn without a reservation?

This winter due to demand we were not able to accommodate walk-ins, but now we can.  Of course it depends on availability, but now that courses in the area are open we are not selling out all the time any more.

You can still reserve 2 hour blocks in the Barn at $40/hour or you may now purchase balls by the bucket again.
(Buckets must be used at the time of purchase, i.e. you can’t come in with tokens and use them in the Barn)
The Barn – $20/full bucket, $10/half bucket
The Barn (Mon-Thurs before 4 PM) – $15/full bucket, $7.50/half bucket

Outdoor Range – $7/full bucket, $3.50/half bucket

How long will the Barn League continue?

The Barn League will continue through April.

What’s the golf cart situation?

Golf carts are available and the rules are the same as the end of last year.  Single rider carts are no longer required, so there will be a $5 surcharge for requesting an individual cart rather than sharing a cart.  Leagues and super-twilight times will not be exempt like last year.

The Golf Course is Still Closed

March 12 Update – March 26 is opening day.  We will release tee times starting on March 19.  The outdoor range will open on March 26.

The Barn is Open

Please make a reservation if you would like to play.  Due to high demand we can’t accommodate walk-ins.

Golf Outing Update

Unfortunately, we have no concrete information regarding the gathering rules for the upcoming golf season.  While things generally seem to be loosening, there is no guarantee that today’s rules will still be in effect by the time your tournament comes around.

Additionally, just because we are allowed to operate in a certain way doesn’t necessarily mean that’s how we are going to handle it at Southers Marsh.  We want every person who steps onto the property to have a wonderful experience, and we don’t want to be put in the position of having to settle disputes between those guests who are behaving as if it’s business as usual and those guests who prefer to be more cautious.  In a large group you will definitely have both.  We probably will not host shotgun events until the mask mandate has been lifted.

That being said, we will continue to monitor the rules and regulations.  If your event is scheduled in June 2021 or earlier, I would definitely plan on tee times rather than the traditional golf outing experience with a shotgun start and a meal afterwards.  Those of you who are familiar with our operation know that we are very flexible, but the safety of our guests and employees is our number one concern.  The groups that held their tournaments last year by utilizing tee times were pleasantly surprised with the success of their events.

We will continue to update our policies as the situation changes, and we appreciate your cooperation.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on the course sooner rather than later!

Thank you for your continued support,
Big Will, Willie, JD, Tanya, Mike, and the rest of the Southers Marsh Team
